A Unique Portrait

October 2013, painting ASA model Virgil Hayes, "Sometimes Santa".  He was an interesting and challenging subject. I had to laugh a little when the initial sketches of many of my fellow artists came out looking like Leonardo da Vinci.

28th Annual Regional Art Show October/November 2012 - Cuyahoga Valley Art Center

2nd painting I entered, don't tell anyone, but I actually liked this one, "Springtime in Paris", better than the one (below) that won First Place.

28th Annual Regional Juried Art Show October/November 2012 Cuyahoga Valley Art Center

Hey! I won First Place for this painting, "Sentinels"
This is what the Juror, Judy Carducci said about it:
"This semi abstract piece is handsome. The drawing is sure and subtle. with variety of texture, line, edges. The color is harmonious and disciplined. There is movement, flickering light, moodiness, mystery, richness, restraint. The artist uses the medium skillfully, with sophisticated aesthetic choices."
WOW!
