Betty has had
extensive training in various mediums, oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, sumi
watercolor & ink, collage and experimental media..
She began her
studies at the University of Akron and the Professional School of Painting and
Design at the Studios of Jack Richard learning all about color in his thorough color
lecture series and painting the portrait models, the very first model was Nancy
Nierman Baker. Next was building armatures and studying sculpture with Miles
Paladino. She then continued with many locally and internationally renowned
artists and workshop instructors:

Looker were a highlight in experience and growth.
Landscapes,
florals, seascapes, still life, portraits, collage and abstracts are all part of her portfolio.
She has shown
her work through many juried exhibitions, invitationals, solo shows and has
been the recipient of numerous awards. Most recent awards include the Eugene
Bell Award in the 23rd Annual Northeast Ohio Regional Juried
Painting Show, October 2007; Best of Show in the Women’s Art League 2007 Fall
Exhibit; Second Place April 2009 Akrona
Galleries; and Best of Show Women’s Art League Fall Exhibit, 2009 Peninsula Art
Academy for Chef Roger Thomas; Best of Show and People’s Choice 2010 in Sorelle

Her paintings
hang in private collections throughout the U. S., Britain, Belgium, Brazil, New
Zealand, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine.
Her work has been published
in local magazines and newspapers. She served as juror of selection and awards
for Medina Art League Aquarius Exhibit.
Painting the
models with Akron Society of Artists Friday mornings and Saturday evenings for
the Art Walk Studio So. at Summit Artspace are important highlights in an
extremely active schedule.
She enjoys the challenge,
freedom of expression, and the free spirit that finds
itself on a journey when
creating a work of art, not just painting what is in front of her, but
exploring the WHAT IF!
